The Fred & Barney Find of a Lifetime

Every reseller dreams of that one unbelievable find — the kind you can’t make up. For us at Pallet Plug 614, it came in the shape of two giant, fuzzy faces from childhood: Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble.

How We Found Them

I spotted the listing, instantly knew they were special… and then saw the dreaded word: SOLD. But something in me wouldn’t let it go. I asked the seller to keep my info “just in case” — and days later, out of nowhere, he messaged back:

“I still have them.”

We drove more than an hour to grab them. The moment I saw the hair texture and craftsmanship up close, I knew these weren’t cheap replicas — they were OLD. And authentic.

A Kings Island Connection

The seller told us he got them 20+ years ago from an older woman who swore they came from Kings Island. I dug through old videos from the 70s, checking details, and reached out to Kent McGuffin, a former Kings Island costume performer and repair tech. He actually wore and fixed these types of suits in the 70s — and we’re waiting for his expert insight.

Then Propstore Responded…

On a whim, I sent the photos to Propstore, the top entertainment memorabilia auction house.

They replied FAST.

They want them in their Spring auction and recommended a $3,000 reserve EACH, with an estimated value of $3,000–$6,000 per head. I got their email before I even picked the heads up — talk about FOMO.

Why They Matter

Hanna-Barbera mascots from theme parks almost never survive. They were worn, repaired, retired, and usually destroyed. Having two in this condition — likely 1970s Kings Island originals — is insanely rare.

What’s Next

For now, they’re protected while we gather more verification. Whether they end up in a private collection or a museum, this find is one for the books.
